Outremer 52
The first Outremer 52 was launched in February 2023 in La Grande-Motte, France.
This model followed the successful launch of the 55 and was designed as the successor to the Outremer 51 (they built 101 of those), using feedback from owners and innovations from the Outremer 55.

Redefining Modern Cruising Catamarans
The Outremer 52 represents all of what the new Outremer design direction stands for: cutting-edge technology, a refined look and performance-driven engineering.
The 52 is built for sailors who want to sail the planet in comfort and safety. The living space has been improved versus her predecessor with no impact on performance. The width of the hulls at the waterline level are the same as the 51, but there is more flare above for more space.
Carbon bulkheads (laminated to the hulls) have been used to widen the living spaces while maintaining a strong, rigid platform for sailing. This is one of the tricks that the new Outremer designs have copied from their sister yard over at Gunboat.
The rig includes a self-tacking jib (with an option for an overlapping genoa), a high-aspect mainsail, and provisions for downwind sails such as a Code 0 or gennaker. There is also an option for a removable inner staysail
The 52 emphasizes lightweight construction, and this boat has good upwind performance, with reduced leeway thanks to its daggerboards. In moderate winds, the 52 should hit double-digit speeds, and she will get going quickly in light conditions.

On an Outremer 52, if there is even a light breeze, you raise the sails and get moving almost at wind speed.
If you are configuring a boat, get your spreadsheets ready as there are plenty of decisions to be made on carbon upgrades (mast, boom crossbeam etc). The aluminium V-boom will make life easier when raising and lowering the mainsail.
Flexible Helm
One of the neat design features is the flexible Jefa helm to starboard that locks into 3 positions (inboard, vertical and outboard). There is ample space for working at the winches. Position it vertically for views of the four corners (docking mode), sit out on the deck on the “Roman” helm seat or swing the helm into the cockpit for the protected position. All the throttle controls, windlass and autopilot controls are inboard on the leaning perch.
The line handling area works particularly well with two electric winches to manage the halyards, sheets, and reefing lines. The leaning post aft of the winch station is where you stand to steer or control the throttles with your left hand. It’s easy for one person to steer and the other to manage the lines without tripping up over each other. Or if you are single-handed, set the autopilot take 2 steps forward & handle the sails.
The deck layout of the Outremer 52 is all about ergonomic design. The flexible swing-helm station to starboard has been positioned for excellent visibility and control, with all key lines and winches within easy reach.
An optional tiller to port completes the set up for those sailors wanting maximum sailing feel and fun on the water. it’s and option that most go for. You can also go for a tiller to starboard if you want to max out on the helm positions.

The cockpit seamlessly flows into the saloon, creating a sociable and open environment.
Wide side decks and flush hatches enhance safety and accessibility, while the composite bimini provides shade and plenty of space for solar panels. It’s a clean, uncluttered deck with everything to hand for passage-making.
Up front on the foredeck, the longeron divides two long trampolines, which come back to a deck with stowage lockers and the windlass. Three steps gets you onto the coachroof to access the mast, boom, and mainsail. There are trampoline extensions at the bow forward of the crossbeam that make it safer to fly your lighter wind sails. These would also make a great dolphin watch in calm conditions.
Designed in collaboration with VPLP and Franck Darnet Design, the living space is another area that has significantly evolved compared to the 51. The saloon is light-filled, modern, and spacious.
Panoramic windows provide all round views and allow natural light to flood the space, creating a connection between the interior and the surrounding seascape.
The saloon has a well-equipped galley with plenty of counter space and storage, a comfortable dining area, and a forward facing navigation station that keeps the skipper connected to the action.

Down below, the hulls house luxurious cabins with generous headroom, large berths, and ample storage. Your main decision is whether to have three or four cabins and how to configure the adaptable forward port cabin (there are five different options). The aft berths are queens (1.6m wide) with plenty of storage space.
The owner’s suite has a dedicated shower-room, seating area, and optional configurations to suit different needs. On the port side choose from different configurations to customise the forward cabin, like MFS Kids or MFS Desk/Bunkbed (My Free Space: MFS).
The attention to detail throughout makes the Outremer 52 a true home on the water.
Custom Port Forward
Choose from…
- a double cabin
- a convertible office space with bunk beds
- a modular cabin, with an office that converts into a workshop, a folding bench and storage spaces
- a dressing room
- a child’s cabin
The Outremer 52 is equipped with twin 50HP diesels. You should hit 7 knots comfortably on one engine in calm conditions at 2000 RPM.
Hatches aft of the helms provide spacious access to the diesels, rudder quadrants, and other systems.
This yacht comes with 2,000 Watts of peak solar: 800 W on the davits and 1,200 W on the coach roof.
Tender Options
Outremer recommends the Highfield 340 with a Honda 15 HP as an option but many owners we have spoken to have gone for different options including the 3D Tender UL 330 (Ultra Light) with a Honda 10 HP.
No Dealers
One of the things that attracts many people to Outremer is their commercial set-up. They do not maintain a dealer network as such, but deal directly with clients.
With Outremer you work with a technical project manager who guides you from the beginning of your purchase through until delivery. They also run sail training and safety courses for clients (eg the popular Outremer Week)
Price Estimate
Exact pricing varies based on options, but the base price typically starts around €1.4 million. Fully equipped with upgrades and bespoke options, the cost can approach €1.8 million or more.
